Podcast Review: Ferrari vs. Lamborghini from Business Wars
The rivalry between Ferrari and Lamborghini is one of the most fascinating in automotive history. For decades, Ferrari was the dominant brand with its success on the race track built by the obsession of Enzo Ferrari. His cars like the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO pictured above were the envy of the racing world.
But then an argument with a customer kicked off an amazing rivalry that has given us some of the most amazing sports cars and exotic cars in automotive history.
This is the story cover by the Business Wars podcast over four episodes. It’s an entertaining overview of the rivalry between the brands and also between the respective founders.
The first episode explains how Ferruccio Lamborghini was a dissatisfied Ferrari customer who showed up to complain about his Ferrari’s busted clutch. Enzo refuses to accept blame, accusing Lamborghini of not knowing how to drive. Naturally, Ferruccio wants his revenge, and the rivalry is born.
Lamborghini launched its first model in 1964. Then in 1970 he introduces the Miura, one of the most stunning designs we’ve ever seen in the auto industry. It created a sensation and put significant pressure on Ferrari to respond. It was this competition that pushed both companies to try to outdo one another, leading to beautiful designs and superior performance from both companies. Ultimately this rivalry helped the kick off the golden age of supercars. Lamborghini created beautiful beasts such as the Aventador pictured below.
