Leaked 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

The Detroit Bureau takes a look at the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.

It’s been said that there are few secrets in Detroit, a town that has, historically, leaked like the proverbial sieve. And General Motors certainly proved that point when it inadvertently let a sneak peek of the next-generation Chevrolet Malibu appear on its media website today.

Ironically, the maker had intended to run the classic teaser campaign, first showing off a shot of the rear taillights and, for this morning, sending out a release with an image of the midsize sedan’s new radio face – which, it revealed, articulates up or down to reveal hidden, illuminated 6-inch storage compartment.

But the above image, which we first spotted on Autoblog.com, tells a much more complete story.

The look should be familiar to fans of the Malibu, which took honors as North American Car of the Year in 2008. There’s a somewhat update version of the bowtie grille, accented by new multi-element headlamps that wrap into the fenders.

Gotta Love that Grille!

Whether you’re out shopping for a car or just admiring cars on the road nothing catches ones eye more than a sharp grille. A delicious front end will certainly gain the attention needed to check out the rest of a car! Here are 10 eye catching grille’s from MSN Autos.

No matter how fast, luxurious or brilliantly engineered, a car has to look good if it’s going to sell. And in this game of seduction, the front fascia plays a vital part. An inspired grille design makes a car attractive and shapes its identity by tying it to the carmaker’s history and reputation. For more than a century, designers have wrestled with the daunting challenge of making cars sexy while satisfying the conflicting demands of engineers and regulators. A smooth front end will likely be more aerodynamic and fuel efficient but less charismatic, for instance. Over the years, there have been some amazing successes and spectacular failures in front fascia design. Here are 10 of the most notable.

The Fastest Camaro Ever: 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1

Check this out from our friends at From Sub5zero.com:

Well, we now have a Camaro that’s enough to make some Corvette owners jealous. It’s the all-new 2012 Camaro ZL1. Chevy introduced the Camaro at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show today, and it’s calling it the “fastest and most technologically advanced Camaro ever built.” Mighty impressive words to describe a car that’s already a classic.

While specs are still not finalized, Chevy predicts that the ZL1 will pull 550 ponies and 550 lb-ft of torque out of its all-aluminum, 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine. That output will be directed to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and will make the ZL1 the fastest Camaro ever built.

This is awesome news for Camaro fans. Read the full article and check out more photos and videos. If you can’t afford the new one you can always search for used Camaros for sale. With so many new Camaros on the market you can probably get a good deal!

December 2010 car sales by the numbers

December car sales rebounded from 2009 and 2010 turned into a “decent” year for the U.S. auto industry . All signs are 2011 “should” continue to grow back to pre-meltdown levels. Here is a December 2010 breakdown from AutoBlog.com from each brand and there are a few surprises in there.

December sales ended 2010 on a largely positive note for most manufacturers. You’re probably more interested, however, in how these brands and companies performed for the entire year of 2010. Hold on to your Sirius satellite radios, because those numbers are on their way, but first we have to dispense with December.

There’s actually nothing too shocking in the sales numbers for December, as most manufacturers finished strongly, with an increase in sales versus December 2009, and those that were down were either not down by very much (Lexus, Jaguar, Toyota and Dodge) or are the usual suspects (Mercury, Lincoln, Volvo, Chrysler and Smart).

Dodge and Chrysler are looking forward to selling significantly updated hardware in 2011, while Toyota will continue to work its way out of the dog house with those consumers that lost some faith in the Japanese juggernaut during its recall debacle in 2010. With that in mind, we expect even more brands to be bragging about the blockbuster year of sales they just had when the next new year rolls around.
