2012 Ford Focus enters the 40mpg club!

It’s never a bad time to announce a new vehicle has been rated 40mpg by the EPA but at this point in history it’s a great time with gas climbing daily! The new 2012 Ford Focus has made it into the 40mpg club with an automatic transmission so the battle with the venerable Hyundai Elantra should make things that much better for consumers.

From the Detroit News:

The 2012 Ford Focus received a government rating of achieving 40 miles per gallon on the highway, as the automaker’s global launch of the compact spurs jobs among its supplier base, company officials said Friday.

The Environmental Protection Agency also certified the Focus as getting 28 mpg in city driving, Ford said. The rating applies to a model with a four-cylinder direct-injection engine and six-speed automatic transmission, as well as other fuel saving features.

The fuel economy news came as the Dearborn automaker announced its supplier network has expanded to meet the demand of its C-segment platform, which underpins the new Focus. Many of Ford’s 310 global suppliers are adding jobs, facilities and equipment to build parts for the new Focus. Among the major Focus suppliers, 5,500 jobs have been added at facilities in North America, Europe and Asia, the automaker said.

De Tomaso storms Geneva

The new De Tomaso being unveiled in Geneva will give an insight into what is in store for fans this specialty automaker. Maybe they’ll finally settle on a name for their flagship as well?

From Auto Blog.com:

Here we are, just days before the doors open at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and De Tomaso has unleashed a series of images along with a few more salient details of its new SLC concept car. Well, actually, De Tomaso is now referring to the machine as the SLS (and no, it has nothing to do with the Mercedes-Benz of the same name), which stands for Sport Luxury Sedan, as opposed to SLC, or Sport Luxury Crossover.

Fret not, Benz fans (and trademark lawyers). De Tomaso says it will give its future production model a new name that will be announced in Geneva.

Irrational naming conventions aside, what we have here is a somewhat high-riding humpback machine not unlike the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. According to the company, two engines are planned at launch, a 300-horsepower V6 and a 550-horsepower V8. Power is sent to all four wheels, and a diesel engine option is planned for a later time.

2012 Ferrari FF in all it’s glory

Sit back, relax and enjoy these videos of the gorgeous 2012 Ferrari FF. Keep in mind that there is a V12 with 650 horses under the hood! Can it get any better?

Magrath promised there would be many more posts on the 2012 Ferrari FF, so here’s another, as the four-wheel-drive, four-seat shooting brake got an early unveil last night in Maranello, Italy, in front of 700 Ferrari owners and dignitaries. We’ll see it again next week at 2011 Geneva Auto Show, where the sheet will be pulled off in front of a couple hundred sweaty journalists in ill-fitting suits.

No additional specs were released, so we’ll have to take it on faith that the car’s front-mounted 6.2-liter V12 still makes around 650 horsepower and 504 pound-feet of torque — and that Ferrari’s seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox will be up to the task of managing such a monumental torque load.

After the jump we offer a few more photos from the event, along with the real treat — a new 3-minute video of the FF looking and sounding rather awesome as it’s hustled along tarmac, and through snow, sand, Ferrariworld…

2011 Nissan Xterra Pro 4-X Review

Bullz-Eye.com reviews the 2011 Nissan Xterra. Find out what they had to say about this ride!

In the middle of winter in Northeast Ohio, seeing a 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X in your snowy driveway is a reason for excitement. The design of the Xterra is all SUV and it has as much attitude as any SUV on the road. Believe me when I tell you the snow filled streets of Ohio were no match for this 4×4.
Exterior

The exterior of the 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x gives off a rugged look that can’t be ignored. Bullz-Eye had the chance to review the all new PRO-4X off-road model which comes with a standard 4-wheel drive and, at least on our model, a five-speed automatic transmission. The lava red paint job fit this SUV well, adding a colorful spirit that matched the overall exterior design. The PRO-4X had fog lights, roof mounted off road lights, black/sandblast aluminum front fascia, roof rack rails and crossbars with an air dam. Also included on our model were rear side bumper steps, skid plates, front tow hook and so much more. As you can see from the feature list, this car is for the people who truly like to challenge themselves and their vehicles. The look of the Xterra hasn’t changed much in recent years, but why ruin a great design?
