2012 Ferrari FF in all it’s glory

Sit back, relax and enjoy these videos of the gorgeous 2012 Ferrari FF. Keep in mind that there is a V12 with 650 horses under the hood! Can it get any better?

Magrath promised there would be many more posts on the 2012 Ferrari FF, so here’s another, as the four-wheel-drive, four-seat shooting brake got an early unveil last night in Maranello, Italy, in front of 700 Ferrari owners and dignitaries. We’ll see it again next week at 2011 Geneva Auto Show, where the sheet will be pulled off in front of a couple hundred sweaty journalists in ill-fitting suits.

No additional specs were released, so we’ll have to take it on faith that the car’s front-mounted 6.2-liter V12 still makes around 650 horsepower and 504 pound-feet of torque — and that Ferrari’s seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox will be up to the task of managing such a monumental torque load.

After the jump we offer a few more photos from the event, along with the real treat — a new 3-minute video of the FF looking and sounding rather awesome as it’s hustled along tarmac, and through snow, sand, Ferrariworld…

The Granite has movement!

Looks like GM will build the Granite after all and we cheer that decision if it’s true. The Granite was a big hit at the 2011 NAIAS but it has taken a year now to get any word that GM will move forward with this sporty and fun vehicle that could bring a whole bunch of younger customers into GM showrooms. We like it!

From AutoBlog.com:

Many moons ago, Motor Trend reported that the funky GMC Granite concept from the 2010 Detroit Auto Show had been given the go for production. Immediately after, however, MT stated that while it strongly believed that the Granite would be produced, the publication had yet to receive an official green light from its sources within General Motors. That changes today, apparently.

Motor Trend is reporting yet again that the Granite has been confirmed for production, even going so far to say that the road-going car will keep the rear-hinged suicide door setup of the concept. This new confirmation reportedly comes from a “well-placed source” within the automaker, who also says that the Granite will be built on the same C-segment platform as the Chevrolet Volt, Cruze and Buick Verano.

When GM debuted the Granite concept, it used the same 138-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four as the Cruze, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This powerplant would certainly make sense for the production car, though MT suggests that even the automaker’s 177-horsepower 2.4-liter four from the Verano would be a good fit. Regardless, we’ll wait until GM issues an official statement before we start gearing up for the first drive.

Ford steps up to the plate in a Big Way with the new 2012 GT350 Convertible

Ford steps up to the plate in a Big Way with the new 2012 GT350 Convertible option being shown in Chicago. This is one of the sharpest sports cars I have seen in awhile and when you factor in the price point compared to other nameplates it might sound crazy but the 2012 GT350 Convertible is a “value play” for those in this market. This is one summer ride that we would love to review in the coming months so at least our readers know we’re trying to get our hands on one of these machines!

From Autoblog.com:

The 2011 Shelby GT350 followed nearly the same philosophy as the Ford Model T. You could get it in any color you want as long as it was white with blue stripes. That’s changing for 2012, as Shelby will also be offering the GT350 in Race Red and Kona Blue. A convertible option will be available, as well. In fact, this is the first time Shelby has built a drop-top GT350 since 1970.

The 2012 GT350 will offer up identical performance as the 2011 model, although one could argue that it didn’t need an upgrade in the first place. Customers can choose between the 430-horsepower base model or opt for either 525- or 624-horsepower versions. Additional upgrades include a full body kit, Cragar wheels, larger brakes, sport suspension and more. The convertible also comes with the option of a light bar. You can read full details about the 2012 Shelby GT350 after the jump, and check out our live photos from the show floor in the gallery below.

The age of the tried and true Ford Crown Victoria is finally drawing to a close, and there is no shortage of suitors — ranging from awe-inspiring to yawn-inducing — lining up to replace it as Johnny Law’s preferred transport. Here’s a quick rundown of what will be protecting tomorrow’s streets, as well as what you should be keeping an eye out for on the side of the road and in your rearview mirror.

BMW to show off roadster concept in Geneva

From AutoNews.com:

BMW AG will unveil a roadster concept at the Geneva auto show next month that combines a futuristic design with infotainment innovations.

BMW said the concept called VisionConnectedDrive has features that show how intelligent networking will enhance people’s driving experience in the future.

The concept has a head-up display that places a 3-D display of key information in the direct sight line of the driver, eliminating the need for the driver’s eyes to refocus. “The display allows the real view to be overlaid with virtual information, highlighting hazards allowing the driver to assimilate all of the information quickly and take appropriate action,” BMW said in a statement on Thursday.
