Jeep cuts price of redesigned Grand Cherokee

Marchionne comes out swinging cutting the price of the redesigned 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The new starting point will be
$32,995 for the base four-wheel-drive model (the Laredo 4×4) which is $465 less than the 2010 model. Prices include shipping.

This will make for some good press for the new SUV and if the looks and quality are there this would be a great start under the new leadership from Fiat.

From AutoNews.com:

DETROIT — Jeep is pricing the base four-wheel-drive model of the 2011 Grand Cherokee, the Laredo 4×4, at $32,995, $465 less than the equivalent 2010 model. Prices include shipping.

The Chrysler Group began making Grand Cherokees at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit this week. The vehicles will begin arriving in showrooms next month.

The Grand Cherokee comes in three models: Laredo, Limited and Overland. The Limited 4×4 starts at $39,995, and the top-of the line Overland starts at $42,995.

2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata Track Test

You gotta love the iconic Mazda Miata! It rings of weekend drives with the top down and sunny days. That’s fine and dandy but how did this car perform when you want to really have some fun? Our friends at InsideLine took this bad boy for a few trips around the track and seemed to respect this roadster for it’s abilities. Hey, you have to remember this is a sub 25k car here!

Inside Line tests hundreds of vehicles a year, but not every vehicle gets a full write-up. The numbers still tell a story, though, so we present “IL Track Tested.” It’s a quick rundown of all the data we collected at the track, along with comments direct from the test drivers. Enjoy.

Mazda’s iconic roadster celebrates its 20th birthday in 2010, as the first MX-5 Miatas that rolled off the line in Hiroshima, Japan, were 1990 models. This seriously entertaining little car has proven to be a real survivor, particularly in the always fickle U.S. market. Other automakers have tried and failed to break into the affordable roadster niche (which now hovers around the $25,000 mark), and only the Mazda Miata keeps on keeping on.

Nissan sees higher profit on U.S., China sales

Looks like the combo of a recovering North American market and the booming Chinese market makes for bigger profits for Nissan. Forecasts are for profits to more than triple for the fiscal year and the near term looks good from our seats. Nissan has some new products hitting the market this year and early next year so it will be interesting to see how those products are received in the market place.

From AutoNews.com:

TOKYO (Bloomberg) — Nissan Motor Co. forecast profit will more than triple this fiscal year as auto demand recovers in North America and sales grow in China.

Nissan, Japan’s third-largest automaker, may boost net income to 150 billion yen ($1.6 billion) for the year ending March 31, from 42.4 billion yen a year earlier, the company said in a statement today. Sales may rise to 8.2 trillion yen from 7.5 trillion yen.

Canada 411, the Net’s Best Search Directory

Canada 411 is an online directory service that works with approximately 2 million site visitors, every month. This directory service helps visitors find accurate information about businesses and/or people whether they down the street or across the country.

Canada 411’s directory is gathered from many diverse sources with some of the best search tools available. This combination enables the site to deliver outstanding results, not only quickly but also efficiently.

This company works with other leading and well-known companies, like Google, to deliver the most correct directions; maps are even provided.

Through cost-effective advertising programs that help create high business profiles and better sales, Canada 411 gives a hand to businesses, large or small, and helps them to generate sales and customers. Currently the site features over 1.5 million local business listings. Businesses that advertise on the site can tell consumers their stories through a combination of detailed profile information, and video. Advertisers also have a huge increase in customers and leads because of the 2 million searches per month.

The site also offers a free U.S. business and people search, while also giving Canadians fast and easy service.
An exciting aspect of Canada 411 is the addition of a new partnership with a group called Pivotal Payments, a leading provider of seller services. Not only does this allow many ways for customers to save, when dealing with one of the many businesses aligned with Canada 411, but Pivotal also gives a special promotional offer for all businesses advertising on the site. Since over two million Canadians use the website in a month, it usually generates about 13 million dollars for local merchants in that same month.

Over-all, Canada 411 is good for customers and good for businesses. In today’s world, that’s called a win/win.

Fiat-based models to key Chrysler’s comeback?

I get the feeling that we won’t recognize the Chrysler brand cars in a few years. That’s a good thing, my friends, and maybe, just maybe, these Fiat-based models will be the engine that brings this company back in the black! With that being said, don’t go too far with the 300, as that is the Chrysler car that actually spurs opinions and emotion. I hear the possible 200C is gorgeous.

With that being said, Sergio has hinted that these new Chrysler rides could hit the ground in Q4 2011.

From AutoGuide.com:

Chrysler Group could bring several Fiat-based compact vehicles to the United States sooner than expected, CEO Sergio Marchionne said on a conference call today.

The vehicles could be on the market as early as the fourth quarter of 2011, based on design work that already has been completed, Marchionne said.

“We’ve run extensive clinics on the first vehicles. We’re 98 percent there on styling,” he said. “My expectation today is we’ll be able to get this car into the market Q4 2011. We continue to work pretty aggressively on timing.”
