Coupe vs. Sedan: Which One is Right for You?

New car shopping.

When you buy a new vehicle, you are often faced with the choice of a sedan versus a coupe in a car model. This is an important choice, as both have their advantages and disadvantages. Your choice can also affect other things, such as how much you will pay in car insurance. When you take these aspects into consideration, you can make the right choice for yourself and your family.

The Coupe

When you think of a coupe, the first thing that comes to mind is a sportier looking vehicle. They are tighter in space, featuring a maximum of 33 cubic feet in the interior. This means dealers will offer you either a two or four-seater variation, which can play an important part in your choice. If it is just you and your spouse, a two-seater is quite comfortable and nice to drive. The four-seater has a limited back seat, which is problematic if you have a family.

These models are often loaded with sport features, including a stronger engine and lots of other extras. The more bells and whistles, the higher your auto insurance will be. Make sure to compare auto insurance quotes to be sure that you get the best deal. For those that like a bit of flash and don’t mind the smaller interior, these cars are a fun option to drive.

The Sedan

Sedans are much roomier, featuring more than 33 cubic feet in the interior. They can usually seat four or five passengers and normally have a roomier back seat. These are a better option for those who have a family and who need extra leg room in the back. Many sedans feature a smaller engine and are better for traveling with more than two people.

Buyers need to be on the lookout when buying one, though. A basic sedan with a four-cylinder engine will bring a lower insurance rate, but many models that claim to be sedans are not. The old standby that all sedans have four doors is misleading. There are some models that have four doors, but have a smaller interior and fall below the 33 cubic feet measurement. This makes them coupes, and could mean you are buying something that is not what you are looking for.

Both coupes and sedans offer fun and safe driving experiences, but it is important to know what to look for when buying a car. This helps you to get the car you want when you head out on the road.

Lincoln MKT sales fall flat in October!

When the Lincoln MKT was launched there wasn’t a soul out there who predicited block buster sales but what we are seeing now is not good for any sales chart.

Sales figures released from Ford indicate the Lincoln MKT 3 row luxury crossover came in with a pultry 369 units sold last month! That is compared to only 506 MKT’s sold in October 2010. We’re aware that the Lincoln MKT is a large and fairly expensive luxury vehicle but 369 sales in a fairly strong month? Come on…..We tested this crossover and thought it was a solid entry but it might be time for the Blue Oval to cut the price on the MKT and start moving units out of the showrooms and into garage’s or this might be one of those great ideas that just couldn’t get traction. One area that might help the MKT is that the unit will be used as the replacement for future limo’s now that the Town Car is being laid to rest. That’s all fine and dandy but what does that do to help the retail market for the MKT? It’s high time to get creative and get the MKT selling or there will be alot of dust collected at Lincoln dealerships on this pricy people mover.
