2012 Hyundai Veloster review on Bullz-Eye

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all from Hyundai this year, here comes the 2012 Veloster Ecoshift DCT with her three doors, aerodynamic design in a hatchback coupe! If you are a leader and definitely not a follower, take this Veloster for a test drive.

Exterior
What you read above is correct, as the Veloster is both a coupe and a hatchback but offers a revolutionary passenger side forward hinged rear door. In the past, some coupes have used limited access rear hinged access doors. These coupes have required opening the front door before the rear door could be opened, an inconvenience for drivers and passengers, and difficult to use in tight parking lot situations. Hyundai’s new thinking implements a conventionally hinged door on the passenger side, providing safe and easy access to the rear seats and a hidden door handle to maintain its coupe design. You have to do a double take to even notice the neatly designed door into the curved exterior of the Veloster. Our century white test model sported 18 inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, chrome grille surrounded with piano black headlights and front fog lights. From the hood scoop to the muscular and athletic appearance this car is a looker!

Basketball fun in the driveway

Americans love their cars, and all across this country you’ll see driveways full of vehicles. We proudly wash them on the weekends and our cars always say something about us.

But there’s one thing that can consistently clear driveways all across the suburbs of America, and that’s a friendly basketball game in the driveway. We love basketball and it’s such a popular sport with kids and adults alike. And because we love our cars, most people are smart enough to move the cars as far away as possible from the game, usually onto the street.

This tradition is a long one, with hoops often put on the garage years ago. But with the advent of poles, you could place the hoop away from the house or garage, which put much less strain on the house and the ears of parents.

We’ve seen big improvements in in-ground basketball goals over the years, and now many of them are adjustable so that the little ones can play as well.

So as you’re thinking about your holiday gifts, you might not be able to afford a Lexus wrapped in a bow for your wife, but you can probably swing a cool new hoop for your kids. Just make sure to move the car to the street!

Car sales keep rolling

It seems like even the auto industry has gotten Black Friday fever, as auto sales were very strong in November, and they were particularly strong over the Thanksgiving Day weekend across America. The rush of car buyers enabled the automobile industry post an annual U.S. sales rate of 13.6 million vehicles this past November, the strongest performance since August of 2009 when the “cash for clunkers” program was in effect and helped to turbocharge sales.

What’s driving this in the US? The economy is definitely starting to get better. The news from Europe seems to keep holding things back, but companies seem to be hiring as well as we’ve seen from the better employment numbers. So consumers are definitely feeling better. But we also have a situation where there are fewer used cars after the slump of recent years, so now used car prices are higher. This pushes demand to new cars and also helps with trade-ins. So we’re finally in a good situation for the car industry.

We’re also in a situation where the auto companies have hit a good grove. The products are getting better as everyone has had a wake-up call and unnecessary brands and models have been cut.

In the UK the news isn’t as good, as the economy there is having a tougher time and the situation in Europe can’t be helping consumer confidence. So you have a better chance of finding new car deals over there. As usual, do your homework and read all the UK car reviews if you’re shopping in that market.

Ford takes a chance by replacing the Econoline with Euro Van!

After decades of dominating the commercial van market Ford is taking a huge risk by killing the best selling Econoline Van and replacing the workhorse with the Euro Transit Vans! Obviously the E-Series neded a redesign but will Ford leave some commercial consumers wanting more than what the Transit will deliver? If that indeed happens there will be openings for competitor to snatch some new sales from former Econoline buyers.

From StraightLine.com:

I think we all have an Econoline story. I know at least one person in this office learned to powerslide in a modern one. Another would consider selling his child for a first-generation, flat-nose pickup version. And I don’t know how many families I knew growing up in New England that needed every one of those seats to haul the kids to school.

But, all things must end and the body-on-frame, big-engined Econoline (now E-Series) is set to be replaced by 2013 by the full-size Ford Transit.

The New Transit will be built in the same Kansas City Assembly plant where the F-150 is built, but Ford is injecting some $1.1 billion into it for the new production. “The new Transit will be the smartest, most fuel-efficient way to move cargo or people,” said Tim Stoehr, Commercial Truck Marketing Manager for Ford.
