Scion iQ Production Model to Debut at NY Auto Show

Automakers left and right are revealing small cars but this one really stands out. Now I say that only if it looks almost identical to this concept as this Scion iQ is not only funky but eye catching. When this stellar small car hits the ground in the U.S. the younger set will be all over it! Let’s check back in once we learn more.

From AutoGuide.com:

The production version of the Scion iQ will make its debut at the New York Auto Show next week reports Bnet. Shown at the same show last year, but in concept form (above) we don’t expect the road-ready car to be nearly so wild.

Instead, the iQ is likely to look similar to the Toyota version of the car (the original), which is currently sold overseas. And considering that version is already quite funky looking, it should suit Scion’s youth-appeal brand just fine.

As for the engine, expect the U.S. Scion model to get the most powerful engine offered in Europe – a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder with 99-hp. That might not seem like much but with how small the iQ is, it should provide peppy performance. In fact, the iQ, which is technically a 3.5-seater (three adults and a child), is roughly the size of the Smart for-two.

Vorsteiner Introduces BMW X6 M Tuning Package

Looking for a super duper incredible tuner package? Look no further than the Vorsteiner BMW X6. This is one tough looking ride!

From AutoGuide.com:

The first ever “Sports Activity Coupe”, the X6 is quite the interesting vehicle from BMW. It’s been a controversial crossover since its release, especially with the addition of the M-moniker to the car. The X6 M features more aggressive styling than the standard-issue model while being powered with BMW’s twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8. With 555-hp and 501 ft-lbs of torque, the X6 M is a perfect competitor to Porsche’s Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S at a more affordable MSRP of $89,000. So it’s not surprise that the aftermarket has jumped on this hot new crossover with the carbon-fiber experts at Vorsteiner leading the way.

Chrysler to Sell Electric Fiat 500 in U.S. beginning in 2012

Fiat will sell an all electric 500 in the U.S. starting in 2012. I will have to say that if the 500 has a good launch in the states later this year and follows with the electric version in 2012 this car will be a formidable player in the small car segment. It will go from being a relative unknown in the U.S. to a major player very quickly.

From Car and Driver.com:

After showing a “design study” of an electrified Fiat 500 at this year’s Detroit auto show, Chrysler is confirming its plans to develop and market a battery-electric 500 for U.S. consumption beginning in 2012.

Chrysler and Fiat have previously said that the Americans will handle the electric vehicles for the allied partnership, and this 500EV will be the first EV from the companies. Before the two tied up, Chrysler had planned to build a whole roster of electric vehicles, beginning in 2010. Bankruptcy intervened and that plan appears to have changed.
