Ford continues to make moves in China

Chinese workers assemble Ford and Volvo cars at a Chang'an Ford automobile assembly factory in Chongqing August 25, 2010. Chang'an Ford is Ford Motor Company's China car-making joint venture. Ford Motor Co. may have got off to a late start in China but Mullay and Company aren’t sitting around now! The Blue Oval is adding 100 dealerships this year alone in China with more to come at a brisk pace. This is where the growth is going to come from for the global automakers and the gloves are off to and the bank vaults opened up to grab as many new customers as possible!

From AutoNews.com:

BEIJING — Ford Motor Co. is adding 100 dealers in China this year, mostly in smaller cities in inland provinces where new car demand is surging, the company said today.

The move, more aggressive than a previously announced plan, will bring the number of Ford dealers in China to 340 by the end of the year, up from an original target of 310, said Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford’s Asia and Africa operations.

The company plans to introduce four new models in China over the next few years, including the Ford Edge crossover next month.

2011 Ford Taurus Limited FWD Review

Bullz-Eye.com reviewed the 2011 Ford Taurus Limited FWD! Read on to see what they had to say about this ride.

Ford Motor CEO Alan Mulally resurrected the Ford Taurus after a brief hiatus. We recently had the chance to test one out. This Taurus is completely different from the ones the world has been driving for the past 25 years and, before we get into the review, we can confidently say that Mr. Mulally made the right call in bringing the Taurus back.
Exterior

When I first took a look at the Ford Taurus Limited, the Konna blue metallic paint job stood out and looked great. First impressions are important and the newer Taurus design, beautiful color, and 19” chrome clad wheels made me want to get inside to check out the interior. This is a big deal for Ford. For years the company did a great job improving the interior but left the exterior bland and boring on too many cars. Not anymore! The Taurus is also surprisingly big, which has its pros and cons. The customer gets a lot of car for their buck but I would still like to see the overall size of the next generation Taurus shrink some and develop a sleeker and lighter design.

2011 Ford Fiesta Review

Bullz-Eye.com reviews the 2011 Ford Fiesta! Find out what the site had to say about this ride.

I have been hearing and reading about the 2011 Ford Fiesta for so long now that I felt I knew the car before I stepped inside the cabin. Ford provided Bullz-Eye with a Lime Green Metallic 2011 Ford Fiesta SES Hatchback with a manual transmission for our test drive, and I had a week to get to know it better.

I had high expectations considering this is an all new offering in North America from Ford. The media coverage has been off the charts so I was very curious to see how the Fiesta would measure up. When you first see the Fiesta, you realize this isn’t just a filler in The Blue Oval’s lineup, but a signal of what subcompact cars in America will look like in the future.

Exterior Design
The 2011 Fiesta has a clean and aggressive looking front end that, quite frankly, surprised me a bit. When I took a hard look at the fascia and stance, I wondered if there were more positive surprises in store with this ride. I continued to check out the exterior of the vehicle and caught the 16″ painted aluminum wheels staring at me and, I must say they, looked very sharp. The front driving lamps have a chrome bezel and look very stylish. It is the kind of detail I would expect in a larger, more expensive car. (We just aren’t used to these things in subcompacts in the U.S…) I liked the overall look of the hatchback and the rear blended smoothly with the hyper-cool front end. The edgy styling sat well with me and will distinguish the Fiesta from its competitors.

2012 Ford Focus is “Built to Sell”

Ford has a new 2012 Focus entering the car market in early 2012 and this car is “Built to Sell” and I say that with total confidence in this new car. The current Focus is a solid vehicle with an outdated design that is more than holding it’s own. The 2012 Focus will have a very attractive, current and smooth design with all of the features that make Ford interiors some of the best in class. Also, This baby is clocking in at 40m.p.g. on the highway which put’s the 2012 Ford Focus at the top of the class. Great looks, well thought out interior and 40m.p.g. make for a scenario were the 2012 Focus will be flying off the lots as the assembly lines in Michigan will be roaring!

From the Detroit Free Press:

Ford expects that the 2012 Focus set to go on sale early next year will get 40 m.p.g. on the highway, an 18% improvement over the current model.

That puts the Focus on track to be the most fuel-efficient car in the compact class as it tries to conquer more market share.

Ford showed the sedan, hatchback and wagon versions of the Focus on Wednesday in conjunction with the Paris Motor Show — the first time the full lineup has been seen together. Ford will build both the hatchback and the sedan for the U.S. market at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne.

The European Focus shares 80% of the same parts with the version to be sold in the U.S. Ford plans to produce 10 cars or crossovers from the Focus platform with a global volume exceeding 2 million by 2012.

Lincoln MKT next-gen Town Car for Ford

Mulally Ford is not wasting time preparing for the end of the line for the venerable Lincoln Town Car. Ford is making their best pitch to NYC that the new Lincoln MKT has the chops to replace the fabled Town Car for chauffeured drives around town and to and from the airport. The MKT will have the capability to be stretched for limo usage and include all wheel drive which should make this the future ride for chauffeured passengers. The Lincoln MKT is a luxurously appointed vehicle that can fill a big void for Ford and also keep many workers building product that should turn a tidy profit as well.

Great planning by Ford/Lincoln as I have the feeling we’ll be seeing quite a few “stretched” Lincoln MKT Town Rides around the city!

From CNN.com:

FORTUNE — If you’re wondering what might replace all those aging black Lincoln Town Cars used as New York City limousines when they finally reach a state beyond repair — wonder no more. Ford Motor Co (F, Fortune 500). is offering a special version of its Lincoln MKT crossover, announed just ahead of the Paris Auto Show’s public opening on October 2nd.

Black MKTs (and make no mistake — livery drivers will insist on black) are already showing up in Gotham, being put through their paces by chauffeurs trying to figure out whether their clients judge them sufficiently prestigious and sufficiently sturdy to withstand the wear and tear of livery operation in the big city.
