Ford’s Mulally lays down the law with big forecasts!

From AutoNews.com:

DETROIT (Bloomberg) — Ford Motor Co. said growth in Asia and increasing demand for small cars will boost global sales 50 percent to 8 million vehicles annually by 2015 as the automaker switches gears from restructuring to expansion.

“Growth is a new skill to learn for us,” Chief Financial Officer Lewis Booth said today in an interview in New York. “We’ve been good at restructuring businesses over the last decade. Growth takes practice.”

CEO Alan Mulally told investors today that the automaker expects that by 2020, 55 percent of vehicle sales will be small cars and a third of sales will be in Asia, Booth said.

“Fifty percent is a large number,” Mulally said of the growth target on Bloomberg Television today. “But it’s off a tremendous foundation we have laid to support that.”

Ford executives, on a tour of Wall Street today, also said:

• Total Automotive debt will be reduced to about $10 billion by 2015, down from $16.6 billion at March 31, 2011 and from $33.6 billion at the end of 2009.

2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo Review

Bullz-Eye.com reviews the 2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo.

It seems these days that many of the new hits for American Automakers are coming out of design studios in Europe. The Buick Regal CXL Turbo , which has DNA traced back to the Opel Signia, is no different. It’s not easy reinventing a brand, and getting the new look and feel to stick takes determination. GM had some tough choices a few years back on what the new GM would carry, but we’re very pleased that Buick is still building cars. It appears they are turning a corner with the Regal.

Exterior
Our test model 2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo was quicksilver metallic with impressive 19-inch alloy wheels, which gave the car a sleek look. That’s right, I said “sleek.” Until you take a good look at the 2011 Regal you won’t realize it’s a Buick. The CXL trim is very sporty and modern with dual bright exhaust tips, aerodynamic and high intensity halogen headlamps with automatic on/off, front fog lamps and an overall appearance of a true sports sedan. The 2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo has flowing lines and a sculpted hood, which show the Regal is designed not only for looks but efficiency.

Bullz-Eye and Dodge in New York City

Bullz-Eye.com’s Gerardo Orlando recently traveled to New York City courtesy of Dodge. Check out his experience below!

I traveled to New York City courtesy of Dodge to check out and drive some of their 2011 models, including the 2011 Dodge Avenger. This was my first opportunity to test drive this vehicle, and I had a red Dodge Avenger Heat V6 for the drive (see the photos above). It was a rainy spring day, but I was able to push the Avenger on some country roads outside of the city along with hitting the city streets as well. The V6 made this car fun to drive, and Dodge made a number of changes to this vehicle for the 2011 model year to improve the handling. The wet roads weren’t a problem and I loved the way it handled tight corners. The result was a vehicle that matched the aggressive styling, and I think this car will be a big hit for guys looking for a sporty sedan. Check back for our full review of the Avenger in our Car Channel.

Dodge also had some Chargers for us as well. I drove the V8 R/T in the past and was very impressed with the vehicle, so I took the opportunity to drive the 2011 Charger Rally Plus with a V6 engine (see the silver Charger in the photos above). While it doesn’t have the power of the V8, this V6 Charger performed very well and had plenty of power. You can save some money and get better mileage with the V6, so for many guys this might be the better option. I recommend you drive both of them and you can choose based on your own preferences, but I came away impressed with both the V8 and V6 versions of the Charger. This car handles beautifully for a full-sized sedan and it has the most aggressive styling in its class in my opinion.

How to beat high gas prices

Here are some tips on how to battle high gas prices by improving your gas mileage. Here’s on of the tips:

Keep your car

Buying a new car may not be financially viable at this time so keeping your current car may be your only option. However, there are a variety of things you can do to ensure you are getting the most mileage possible. First, perform scheduled maintenance. Make sure to replace all items specified by your owner’s manual according to the schedule, especially such things as oxygen sensors, fuel filters, air filters and spark plugs. Also, make sure your fluids like oil and coolant are up to date. These items will keep your car operating at optimum efficiency and will guarantee that you are getting every advertised mile out of a gallon of gas. Also, if your tires need replacing, look into a set of low rolling resistant tires. There are a variety of brands out there and you can check car tire sites to see if such tires are available for your make and model of vehicle. Most importantly, check the air pressure in all your tires since low tire pressure will adversely affect your mileage.
