Car Recalls in 2011: Is Yours on the List?

Car manufacturers work hard to create vehicles that are completely safe to operate. When we buy vehicles, we believe that they were put through rigorous testing, and were equipped and ready to handle all possible hazards or situations that could arise.

Historical vehicles.

Unfortunately, car manufacturers cannot possibly anticipate every possible situation or scenario. Sometimes a vehicle has to be recalled after it is manufactured and released into the market. More often than not, rigorous testing simply is not enough to determine whether a vehicle is completely road ready, and mistakes are made. Consumers must assess the vehicle and consider the car safety ratings.

2012 Models Recalled
The most common recalls will be for 2012 vehicles. This is because the 2012 vehicles are released in 2011 and this is when the problems are discovered. Some examples of 2012 models which are now being recalled are:

S Class.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz S Class. This model is recalled for fuel system issues.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the 2012 Dodge Durango, the 2012 Chrysler 200, the 2012 Dodge Charger, and the 2012 Dodge Journey. They are all recalled for engine and engine cooling issues.

Porsche 911.

Why Cars are Being Recalled?

The important thing to understand about car recalls is that some are for serious safety issues, whereas others are for more innocuous reasons. For example, Honda recently recalled nearly 1 million cars worldwide from a couple of different lines like the CR-V line and the Fit. This initially did not seem to be a move for safety purposes, since the reason given was to replace the master switch responsible for the power windows in the vehicle. The truth is, the window cleaner residue could potentially degrade the electrical contacts in the switch and there was a great potential for a fire to break out as a result.

Because there are several reasons for which a vehicle could be recalled, it is essential that consumers take these recall notices seriously and return any vehicle that is being recalled by the manufacturer. Even if the reason for the recall seems harmless, there could be a much more important reason behind the recall of which you need to be aware. Also when you buy any used cars from motors.co.uk or any other reputable dealer, always make sure you call the manufacturer to ensure all recalls have been made.

Is your car the safest possible vehicle for you to drive? With different car manufacturers facing recall, it becomes essential that you know what car models are on the recall list.

Cadillac introduces new XTS Sedan at LA Auto Show

Cadillac introduced a completely new sedan here at the LA Auto Show. Check out the slideshow of the new XTS above and you’ll see that Cadillac is definitely on the right track as they continue the evolution of their approach to design. Cadillac executives promised that there would be no more “design by committee” at the luxury brand and they presented the XTS as a representation of a clear direction for the brand.

As you can see from the photos, the design is very impressive. It retains some of a hard lines and edges we’ve seen from Cadillac but the XTS represents a more refined expression of this approach.

Most importantly, the XTS will be the first model to feature Cadillac’s new CUE system that was created to provide a comprehensive in-vehicle experience. We previewed the CUE system last month and were very impressed as it presents a great leap forward for the in-car user experience. Here’s what we said then: “New innovations like tactile feedback on your finger when you touch the 8-inch center stack screen and proximity sensing that has control buttons pop up on the screen as you hand approaches make this system very user friendly, and the customization features make CUE a very powerful system that greatly enhances the driver experience.”

2013 Ford Escape

Ford finally takes the wraps off the all new 2013 Ford Escape. Check out the gallery and specs for the new Escape.

From the Detroit Free Press:

The new Escape compact crossover is Ford’s latest vehicle to shed a boxy façade for more finessed contours, a change that executives say improves fuel economy.

When Ford first launched the Escape a decade ago, designers sought to make it look rugged, like an SUV, rather than streamlined like Honda’s CR-V or Toyota’s RAV4. But shoppers are now looking for sleeker design, said Mark Fields, Ford’s president of the Americas.

“We’re injecting a style aspect to it, which consumers are saying, ‘We want, (but) don’t pull back one iota in the utility capability,’ ” Fields said.

Ford unveils the Escape today at the Los Angeles auto show, ahead of its sales launch next year. Ford is counting on the Escape’s huge customer base to make the new version as successful as its predecessor, even though Ford showrooms will soon be crowded with five car-based family vehicles.
