Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible

You can’t go to the local Chevy dealer and purchase a convertible Camaro yet but it’s coming soon and now news arrives of a special edition Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible! The price will be steep at 75k so if you have someone who likes to spoil you add it to your Christmas list this holiday season. Check out the great pics…

From Autoblog.com:

It’s a big day for the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. General Motors has pulled back the curtains on a low-volume special edition version of the drop-top muscle car set to go on sale next year. The vehicle is slated to be featured in the annual Neiman Marcus Christmas Book – a catalog of high-end goodies for the ruling class. Only 100 examples of the Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible will be sold through the catalog, each wearing special Deep Bordeaux paint and boasting drivetrain components borrowed from the mighty Camaro SS. That means there’s a full 426 horsepower on tap. Inside, GM has slathered the cockpit in leather touches only available on this special edition.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept

There are times when you’ve seen so many incredible super cars you just have to wonder “can it get any better’? Well, Lamborghini has an answer to that question and it’s a big “Yes!”. Check out the newly leaked pics from our friends at MotorCrave.com of the Concept Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, which means Sixth Element . I have to say the design level of this piece of art is a GrandSlam!

After yesterday’s leak, we figured Lamborghini would have no choice but to unveil its new concept today, and indeed it has. After dropping the sixth and final teaser, which we won’t waste any more time on, Lamborghini released photos and information on the concept.

The Sesto Elemento, which means Sixth Element, uses a carbon fiber monocoque tub and carbon fiber all over–front end frame, body panels, suspension parts, rims–pretty much everywhere you look. As such, it cuts hundreds of pounds over other Lamborghinis and comes in at a featherweight 2,202 lbs. (or 999 kg if you want to be catchy). The 570-hp 5.2-liter V10 engine has no problem pushing that light, skeletal body to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds on up to around 218 mph.

The car’s distinctive exterior is made with a fashion-out-of-function ethic, and the interior is stripped down to the most basic of basics–essentially an empty carbon tub with controls and padding in key places. Drop down below to see some more pictures and read the full story from Lamborghini’s press release.

2012 Ford Focus is “Built to Sell”

Ford has a new 2012 Focus entering the car market in early 2012 and this car is “Built to Sell” and I say that with total confidence in this new car. The current Focus is a solid vehicle with an outdated design that is more than holding it’s own. The 2012 Focus will have a very attractive, current and smooth design with all of the features that make Ford interiors some of the best in class. Also, This baby is clocking in at 40m.p.g. on the highway which put’s the 2012 Ford Focus at the top of the class. Great looks, well thought out interior and 40m.p.g. make for a scenario were the 2012 Focus will be flying off the lots as the assembly lines in Michigan will be roaring!

From the Detroit Free Press:

Ford expects that the 2012 Focus set to go on sale early next year will get 40 m.p.g. on the highway, an 18% improvement over the current model.

That puts the Focus on track to be the most fuel-efficient car in the compact class as it tries to conquer more market share.

Ford showed the sedan, hatchback and wagon versions of the Focus on Wednesday in conjunction with the Paris Motor Show — the first time the full lineup has been seen together. Ford will build both the hatchback and the sedan for the U.S. market at its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne.

The European Focus shares 80% of the same parts with the version to be sold in the U.S. Ford plans to produce 10 cars or crossovers from the Focus platform with a global volume exceeding 2 million by 2012.

Lincoln MKT next-gen Town Car for Ford

Mulally Ford is not wasting time preparing for the end of the line for the venerable Lincoln Town Car. Ford is making their best pitch to NYC that the new Lincoln MKT has the chops to replace the fabled Town Car for chauffeured drives around town and to and from the airport. The MKT will have the capability to be stretched for limo usage and include all wheel drive which should make this the future ride for chauffeured passengers. The Lincoln MKT is a luxurously appointed vehicle that can fill a big void for Ford and also keep many workers building product that should turn a tidy profit as well.

Great planning by Ford/Lincoln as I have the feeling we’ll be seeing quite a few “stretched” Lincoln MKT Town Rides around the city!

From CNN.com:

FORTUNE — If you’re wondering what might replace all those aging black Lincoln Town Cars used as New York City limousines when they finally reach a state beyond repair — wonder no more. Ford Motor Co (F, Fortune 500). is offering a special version of its Lincoln MKT crossover, announed just ahead of the Paris Auto Show’s public opening on October 2nd.

Black MKTs (and make no mistake — livery drivers will insist on black) are already showing up in Gotham, being put through their paces by chauffeurs trying to figure out whether their clients judge them sufficiently prestigious and sufficiently sturdy to withstand the wear and tear of livery operation in the big city.
