Mazda spices up the 2012 Mazda3 and stretches the stops between gas stations by achieving 40mpg in highway driving.
From AutoNews.com:
NEW YORK — Mazda will join the 40-mpg club when the freshened 2012 Mazda3 goes on sale in late summer with a new 2.0-liter gasoline direct-injection engine and new transmission.
The new powertrain is part of Mazda’s coming family of SkyActiv technologies — new engines, transmissions, chassis and frame technology designed to cut weight and boost fuel efficiency.
The 2012 Mazda3 sedan with the 2.0-liter SkyActiv engine and SkyActiv automatic transmission will get 28 mpg city/40 mpg highway, Mazda said today. That’s up from the 24 mpg city/33 mpg highway rating of the 2011 Mazda3’s 2.0-liter engine.
