2011 Ford Edge Review

The Bullz-Eye.com car staff recently reviewed the 2011 Ford Edge and this is what they had to say:

The crossover market continues to grow rapidly, and Ford will be poised to capitalize on that trend with the 2011 Ford Edge. The original Edge was a hit for Ford partly due to its aggressive and distinctive styling, and the new 2011 model features a larger and bolder front grille that suits the vehicle nicely. Plus, a new Sport edition will give the guys something to get excited about with the Tuxedo Black grille and the 22-inch wheels that you won’t find anywhere else in this class. The new Edge is also the first Ford model to feature Ford’s new MyFord Touch system, which highlights Ford’s aggressive strategy to leverage technology and the Internet to make the driving experience safer and more integrated with the gadgets you use in everyday life.

We were invited to drive the new Edge in and around Nashville, and the route selected by Ford offered a nice opportunity to test the handling and performance of the vehicle with winding roads through the beautiful hills and woods of Tennessee. We were impressed with both the Limited version and the new Edge Sport . Both offered impressive handling and acceptable acceleration. Each version offers a very comfortable ride that will appeal to buyers in this category, and the ride on the Sport was tighter with a noticeable improvement in performance. The Edge Sport in particular handled curves and turns very well, so this model should appeal to guys looking for more performance that complements the more aggressive styling.

Mega coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise

Our friends at AutoBlog.com did us all a favor and covered the Woodward Dream Cruise in full force! Check out these great pics of muscle cars, classic cars and just about anything you might see on wheels. This is a long tradition that was in need of a comeback year and it looks like Woodward is back! The 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is one of my favorites.

Every year, the muscle car is the most well-represented vehicle type at the Woodward Dream Cruise. And with good reason: These burly V8-powered steeds reinforce Detroit’s legend as the Motor City.

As we discussed in our post on Woodward’s classic cars, we’ve kinda sorta arbitrarily split American automotive history into two parts, using 1964 as the dividing line. Everything post-1964 is a muscle car… at least for our purposes. With that in mind, take a look at a bunch of classic Mustangs, Chevelles, Corvettes and, of course, Pontiac GTOs in our high-res image gallery below.

Lamborghini to follow lead of Porsche?

Is Lamborghini going to follow the lead of Porsche and produce a 4 door sedan coupe? Check out the Estoque Concept and let us know your thoughts. Will the brand image of Lamborghini and a sleek roof line bring in the buyers and possibly change the game for super powered 4 door sedan coupes? Can’t wait to see a head to head between the Estoque and Panamera!

From AutoGuide.com:

With Porsche and Aston Martin making headway with their Panamera and Rapide four-door coupes, Lamborghini is apparently open to the idea of a four door sedan coupe similar to their Estoque concept car.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann is reported as saying to journalists that “a third model would fit Lamborghini very well”, and “a four-door car would be a very feasible approach.” But with the Estoque originally shelved in 2009 and sales down 18 percent versus last year.

The Estoque would need to give Lamborghini “a real leap” in sales for the company to justify the investment. While the four door coupe segment is currently on fire, there’s no telling whether the sector will continue to be hot, and a poorly timed introduction could spell doom for Lamborghini.

2012 Chevy Camaro Z/28 turning heads

The Camaro and Mustang duel will go to a new level once the Camaro Z/28 is released. The new Camaro offering is reportedly going to boast a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 pumping no less than 556 horsepower which will put in within reach of the Mustang Shelby GT500. Our friends at Insideline.com were able to obtain some spy shots of these two beasts taking a few laps at the track!

Another 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 sighting this week, and this time it was running shakedown laps with a 2011 Shelby GT500. Evidently, Chevy engineers have gotten wind of just how good the top Mustang has gotten, and are doing their due dilgence to ensure the supercharged Camaro won’t come up short in a burnout competition or anywhere else.

Last September we told you a resurrected Camaro Z/28, with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making at least 556 horsepower, was about a year out, and as the months are fast running out, it shouldn’t be long before the official debut. It should be a very good auto show season.

2012 Mustang Boss 302 Unveiled!

Are you a Mustang fan? If so, you are going to love the new 2012 Mustang Boss 302! This brings back the days of the almighty 302 rumbling down the road. The Boss will sport a 5.0L V8 making 440 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque with upgraded clutch and serious “sound effects”. The Black and Red color combo on the Boss pictured hits the mark for this ride!

From AutoGuide.com:

Ford’s 2012 Boss 302 Mustang is destined to excited enthusiasts everywhere, but the car has been a poorly kept secret for fans of Grand-Am racing, who have watched Ford unveil a Boss 302R race car and slowly develop it into the 2012 Boss 302 road-going variant.

With a re-worked 5.0L V8 making 440 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, the Boss packs significant power upgrades over the standard 5.0 model. A re-worked exhaust and intake system are standard, with the exhaust using trick quad pipes that exit out of the back bumper as well as just before the rear wheels. The side pipes are mostly there to give an added boost in V8 rumble, but engineers have made the exhaust to be tunable via a set of discs that can alter the sound, and made the installation process for a set of aftermarket dump valves designed to be a matter of undoing a couple of bolts. An upgraded clutch and 3.73 rear end put the power to the ground, while a limited-slip differential is optional as are Recaro seats.
