Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept

There are times when you’ve seen so many incredible super cars you just have to wonder “can it get any better’? Well, Lamborghini has an answer to that question and it’s a big “Yes!”. Check out the newly leaked pics from our friends at of the Concept Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, which means Sixth Element . I have to say the design level of this piece of art is a GrandSlam!

After yesterday’s leak, we figured Lamborghini would have no choice but to unveil its new concept today, and indeed it has. After dropping the sixth and final teaser, which we won’t waste any more time on, Lamborghini released photos and information on the concept.

The Sesto Elemento, which means Sixth Element, uses a carbon fiber monocoque tub and carbon fiber all over–front end frame, body panels, suspension parts, rims–pretty much everywhere you look. As such, it cuts hundreds of pounds over other Lamborghinis and comes in at a featherweight 2,202 lbs. (or 999 kg if you want to be catchy). The 570-hp 5.2-liter V10 engine has no problem pushing that light, skeletal body to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds on up to around 218 mph.

The car’s distinctive exterior is made with a fashion-out-of-function ethic, and the interior is stripped down to the most basic of basics–essentially an empty carbon tub with controls and padding in key places. Lamborghini to follow lead of Porsche?

Is Lamborghini going to follow the lead of Porsche and produce a 4 door sedan coupe? Check out the Estoque Concept and let us know your thoughts. Will the brand image of Lamborghini and a sleek roof line bring in the buyers and possibly change the game for super powered 4 door sedan coupes? Can’t wait to see a head to head between the Estoque and Panamera!

With Porsche and Aston Martin making headway with their Panamera and Rapide four-door coupes, Lamborghini is apparently open to the idea of a four door sedan coupe similar to their Estoque concept car.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann is reported as saying to journalists that “a third model would fit Lamborghini very well”, and “a four-door car would be a very feasible approach.” But with the Estoque originally shelved in 2009 and sales down 18 percent versus last year.

The Estoque would need to give Lamborghini “a real leap” in sales for the company to justify the investment. While the four door coupe segment is currently on fire, there’s no telling whether the sector will continue to be hot, and a poorly timed introduction could spell doom for Lamborghini.

Sneak Peak: 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni Spyder

Since it’s summer time we have to keep dreaming about those exotic cars that you seldom see on the road. Well in that tradition check out these pics of what is believed to be the a Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni Spyder prototype. Some have labeled this jewel the Superleggera Spyder and we say either way it is one beautiful machine from the people at Lamborghini. Look for the debut of this rear wheel drive sports dream at the Paris auto show.

From Inside Line:

This is the car everybody’s calling a Superleggera Spyder, but Inside Line has confirmed that this is actually a Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni Spyder prototype. That’s right, another rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini, courtesy of the Italian automaker’s esteemed test driver, Valentino Balboni, and this time it’s a drop top.

Although the all-wheel-drive Gallardo Superleggera and rear-drive Balboni have some similar design details, if you look closely at those gaping lower intakes, you’ll see they’re in the style of the Balboni hardtop.

Around back, you’ll see quad exhaust pipes that protrude beyond the back edge of the bumper. Both the Balboni and Superleggera have these, but as on the Balboni, the rear deck is blissfully wing-less. The superlight coupe, you’ll recall, has a big, fixed carbon-fiber piece.
