BFGoodrich releases new g-Force Rival performance tire

BFGoodrich is releasing a new performance tire that can be pre-ordered today on TireRack.com. It’s a step above its COMP-2 street tire but isn’t s pure racing tire like its R1 tire. BFGoodrich unveils the g-Force Sport COMP-2 performance tire

It was 23 degrees, cold and dark. I was leaving Cleveland in the dead of a cold winter’s night. I’d been invited by BFGoodrich to the unveiling of their newest, ultra-high performance summer tire, the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2. Oh, and the event was being held in sunny southern California. It didn’t take much convincing to get me on the plane.

The COMP-2 is BFGoodrich’s answer to the new breed of high-tech ultra-high performance tires on the market. Three years in the making, the new tire uses a new silca-infused rubber compound and reinforced internal structure to improve grip in all situations. In comparison to the other leading tires in this category, the BFG claims a 30% increase in grip in wet conditions while maintaining an 8% lead in the dry.

BFG is going for the enthusiast aftermarket where tire performance and looks trumps most other factors. With over 50 diameter and width combinations available, it’s designed to fit most foreign and domestic sports cars.

Fast forward 32 hours to the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California. 67 degrees and dry as a bone, the perfect weather to put the new tire to the test. BFGoodrich had prepared several different events for us to try out the new g-Force Sport COMP-2, and better yet, to compare it to the competition. For every car clad in the new COMP-2s, there was at least one other car of the same model shod in Yokohamas, Coopers, Hankook, and other leading brands. We had the opportunity to test back-to-back the BFGoodrich offering against the industry leaders.

Shaun White Upgrades to Mud in Latest BFGoodrich® Tires Driving Experience

Professional athlete Shaun White is branching out from the thrill of asphalt at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and taking to the mud of Old Mill Adventure Park as he continues to upgrade his driving performance with BFGoodrich® Tires in Chapter 3 of the “Upgrade to BFGoodrich” campaign. The automotive enthusiast spent time behind the wheel of a full-bore rally car at DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Wash., to learn the basics of rally driving from experts in this unique motorsport. His latest adventures will debut today in an interactive experience.

Continuing White’s driving upgrade, the BFGoodrich Tires team put him through the paces at the DirtFish Rally School on a muddy Rally 101 course. White was instructed by two rally racing all-stars – Forest Duplessis, DirtFish Rally School chief instructor, and David Higgins, British Rally Champion and Subaru Rally Team USA member. During White’s time behind the wheel of a Vermont SportsCar-prepared Subaru race car equipped with BFGoodrich® g-Force™ Rally tires, he learned advanced car control, including trail braking and cornering techniques. A video map of the DirtFish Rally School enables users to choose White’s adventure ranging from the gravel skidpad to the thrill ride piloted by Higgins.

BFGoodrich Tires Takes a Drive on the Wild Side

BFGoodrich Tires is taking a “drive on the wild side” by launching its Bolt On ad campaign.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – July 14, 2010 – What does a pneumatic wrench, a window washer and a tree frog have in common? Launching today, BFGoodrich® Tires’ new national advertising campaign will answer that question. While the company hopes this campaign will have consumers “jumping” into stores to purchase a new set of tires, it is not the reason they are showcasing a tree frog. Instead, the company is focusing on the characteristics of the amphibian to illustrate the grip of new set of BFGoodrich tires. Other animal metaphors throughout the campaign will bring the company’s message home, enabling consumers to understand just how easy it is to bolt on grip, acceleration and toughness to their vehicles.

This national broadcast, print and online advertising campaign heralds a new approach for BFGoodrich Tires, providing consumers with a series of unconventional and obviously fictitious situations to help clearly visualize key tire benefits. The campaign illustrates that while consumers cannot literally bolt on a cheetah’s “legs” for acceleration or a tree frog’s “hands” for grip, they can achieve the grip, acceleration and toughness for their vehicles by simply bolting on a set of BFGoodrich tires.
